Chapman Leadership Scholars Luncheon
Clemson Marketing and Communications Internship
THE ASK: Design a series of cohesive print and digital collateral for a Leadership Scholars Luncheon.
The only criteria I was given on this project was to include an “orange brick road” to align with the Wizard of Oz theme of the Chapman Scholars program while also including Clemson’s signature orange color. The tone and imagery of the collateral was to appear elegant and refined, since this was a scholars luncheon with the donors of the program in attendance.
THE CHALLENGE: Adjusting to clients’ changing expectations while meeting deadlines and maintaining a consistent artistic style.
This project ended up taking much longer than anticipated due to the clients changing direction multiple times. I relied on my ability to be adaptable and pivot my designs to satisfy the clients’ ask while maintaining the integrity of my art. To the left are several versions of the print invitation that went through the process of approval and feedback.

Final Print InvitationThe finalized design features a windy orange brick road on the front with the invitation details overlayed. The other side of the invitation gives the illusion that the brick road follows to the back and leads to Tillman Hall, a signature building on Clemson University’s campus, instead of the Emerald City.
Other CollateralThese are other pieces I created for the luncheon event. The top piece is an email header that went out to all the students invited to the event, and closely resembled the print invitation.
The bottom piece is a graphic that was printed onto a 36” x 24” smooth canvas that students wrote on which was later given to the Chapman family who created the program. For this piece, the canvas was going to be wrapped around the frame, so I was mindful to add large enough bleeds so that the design seamlessly wrapped over the edges.
